From Liverpool to LA: what became of the weavings?
12 December 2012
We have tried our best to ensure all the materials are reused.
The leftover T-shirts were donated to Liverpool World Centre who
are busy working with over 20 schools to complete the 20 tonne challenge For every tonne of textiles
collected the the schools receive £500 to run new projects!
The hula hoops have all been donated to Merseyside Play Action Council who intend to use them for further arts and craft projects with young people and communities.. they may even be used for weaving again!
So, What about the weavings themselves?! Well, they are off on an adventure! Our project facilitator Jonny has been working away in a little store room in FACT to cut all of them off the hula hoops and pack them up ready for shipping. They are off to LA, where Artist jemima Wyman is planning to create a soft sculpture from them. Watch this space for more details!
Our next exhibition Winter Sparks opens on Thursday 13 December 6pm - 8pm, featuring special performances from the artists and local ale. This exhibition is at FACT until 24 February and entry is free.
