5 April 2012

In November 2011, FACT's young people's programme was awarded £29,620 from First Light's Young Film Fund to develop a unique project aimed at young people living in economically disadvantaged areas. The project was a great success and gave fifty young people an opportunity to learn about the process of filmmaking. We had a great time working with First Light on this project and we are pleased to be hosting the next step of the programme, the Second Light Training Lab. Training sessions will be based at FACT alongside work experience sessions at Lime Pictures.

The Second Light Training Lab will be a free training programme in technical filming skills and anyone between the age of 18 - 25 is eligible to apply. It is a unique opportunity for new entrants in the field who are seeking further skills and experience to enable them to secure their first contracts.

Taking place over three days a week for six weeks, the course will cover:

  • Audio theory
  • The use of a camera, including operation and mechanics.
  • Lighting techniques
  • Practical filmmaking scenarios
  • Health and safety
  • Working in a team
  • Being a freelancer and career guidance

To find out more information and to get involved, visit the opportunities section of our website. The deadline is 4 May and as well as the opportunity to attend the course, successful applicants will receive a £100 weekly payment as well as a two week paid work experience placement with Lime Pictures.
