Welcome to our new website!
27 February 2012
Hello! Welcome to the new FACT website. We're very pleased to launch what we hope will be not only a great way of finding out what's going on at FACT, but also an increasingly valuable resource for finding out about art, technology and social engagement.
First things first, we'd like to extend our warm thanks to Ice with whom we have worked so closely on this project. They've done a fantastic job and we're looking forward to continued work with them.
The process for rolling out a new website began in June last year as we began putting a brief together for what was required from a new website. The tender for the design and development of the new site was put out in July. There was a big response with 26 submissions in total, which left us with a superb choice of suitors and a lot of reading to do.
Ice were finally chosen after a thorough shortlisting and interview process. They began the lengthy task of research and consultation, meeting with audience members, staff and stakeholders to work out exactly what was required.
And so to the website you see before you. Gone is the light text on a black background and the layer upon layer of sub-navigation. We've worked hard to ensure that the site is simple to use and easy to navigate. FACT is a fluid organisation defined by its activities, which will be reflected in our full page images. We've pulled our work - art, film, engagement and research - into one easily filterable section. We've a huge directory of people connected to FACT, including artists, board members, staff, associates, young people and freelancers. We've developed an editorial strand of content to provide commentary on the world of art, technology and social engagement in which FACT operates. And of course, if you just want to find out what films are showing, you can do that too.
But we're not finished with the site - this is only the start. There's plenty more that we'd like to do and no doubt there will be things that we need to tidy up or tweak. We're keen to hear your thoughts so that we can continue to develop the site with its users in mind. Use the feedback tab on the left of the site to let us know what you think.
