Sleeping Beauty is an Australian dark drama about erotica ans male fantasy from first time director and novelist, Julia Leigh, and is not to be confused with Disney titles of the same name

The mood is set in the opening scene that features Lucy, a refined looking young woman, gagging on a length of hose that has been fed down her throat in the name of medical research. This is how she has been making ends meet which suggests where her boundaries in relation to her body might lie.

Jaded with her current world of part time jobs, Lucy soon gets involved in the high-end escort business where she finds herself within a quasi-necrophilia cult of rich men looking for their next thrill (remeniscent of the Kubrick classic, Eyes Wide Shut). Regularly drugged, Lucy cannot remember what happens to her which soon fuels an obsession with finding out the truth.
