Music and Film: Dig!
A documentary about two rock bands, one that has it all, and one whose luck is getting worse and worse...
17 October 2011Have you heard the one about the rockstar who ordered the bouncers to beat up the audience and his fellow band members? Or the one when the band played a ten-hour show to an audience of just ten? These "episodes" and many more all happen in the real-life music documentary, Dig!
Dig! was filmed over seven years by documentary filmmaker Ondi Timoner (who collected 1,500 hours of footage for the film). Timoner trails Brian Jonestown Massacre's Anton Newcombe and Courtney Taylor of the Dandy Warhols, shining a spotlight on the split between the winners and losers of the music industry.
Brian Jonestown Massacre are on a self-proclaimed mission to revolutionise the music industry and have convinced the Dandy Warhols to come along for the ride. One band gets increasing fame, whilst the other literally gets pelted with rotten fruit! The unique, warts and all footage that Timoner captured makes Dig! a really interesting watch and a must for fans of this genre.
Dig! is showing this Wednesday 19 October at 6.30pm. Buy your tickets online here, in person at the Box Office or by calling 0871 902 5737.
