The Skin I Live In is director Pedro Almodóvar’s first collaboration with Antonio Banderas in 21 years. Set in Madrid, Banderas plays plastic surgeon Robert Ledgard who is on a quest to create pain resistant artificial skin that could have saved his recently deceased wife’s life.

After 12 years of crafting the skin, Ledgard needs an accomplice  (his Mum, with self proclaimed insanity in her entrails) and a human guinea pig (Vera, a girl with flawless skin) in order to make a Frankenstein copy of his wife. Vera is kept prisoner in a lab deep within his manor as a toy for him to experiment on.
