Arietty, showing from Friday
9 August 2011
“Discover a world beneath our own where little people have made there home.”\r\n
Arrietty is the latest magical animated adventure from Japan’s Studio Ghibli and is based on the novel The Borrowers, by Mary Norton. We are so excited to be showing at FACT from Friday, the only place to see it in Liverpool. (Lucky members of the Kids’ Club were able to catch it last week during a special premiere!)\r\n
In trademark Studio Ghibli style, the film is set in present-day suburban Tokyo. Tiny Arrietty lives underneath the floorboards of a mansion with her family out of sight of the big people. Arrietty survives by “borrowing” everyday items from the land above and one day meets Sho, a young boy who has moved into the mansion. They quickly become friends and the adventure goes from there.\r\n
From the studio that created the award winning, Spirited Away, My Neighbour Totoro and our personal favourite, Ponyo, Arrietty is bound to be beautiful, feel-good and full of slightly weird adventures.\r\n
You can buy tickets for Arrietty online, in person at the Box Office or by calling 0871 902 5737. These screenings will be accompanied by subtitles.
