As part of The Arts & Health Week in Gallery 2, there will be a FREE jewellery making workshop tomorrow afternoon. We caught up with artist in residence for the day Suzanne Allen to find out more...

"I'm looking forward to hosting Make & Meet at FACT on Saturday afternoon, we'll be making fabric bows and felt flowers to turn into hairslides or brooches. It should be a really relaxed and informal session, which anyone with an interest in making can attend, regardless of ability. These makes are great to design for yourself or to give as a present. I've always been interested in craft and a promoter of the handmade ethos, and think it's better to give or receive something unique and handcrafted, and support independent makers.

I've been selling at fairs and events for about 18 months as one half of Lor&Suze. We sell handmade jewellery, greetings cards and gifts but we also recycle vintage materials into new pieces. We love scouring charity shops, car boot sales and auction websites for old brooches to make into necklaces or postcards to make into new greetings cards. We've just set up a facebook group  which has regular updates about our work and any fairs we'll be at, and you can follow me on twitter @HandmadeSuzanne.

Saturday should also be a great chance to meet other crafters and handmade enthusiasts as part of the week of Art and Health in Gallery 2, it's a free session with all materials provided, including refreshments. You can book a place by emailing info@fact.co.uk or calling 0151 707 4464, or drop in early to avoid disappointment!"
