21 January 2011

The mini film festival kicks off on the 7 February with the award-winning Paris is Burning (1990), the classic documentary about New York’s legendary drag balls. The screening will be accompanied by a special performance and introduction from renowned dancer, choreographer and artistic director, Darren Suarez and his dance company.

\r\nQueerfest also celebrates the work of the legendary master of camp, John Waters, with a double bill of his classic, Pink Flamingos and its rarely seen sequel Female Trouble – both starring Waters’ muse, the drag queen, Divine.

Art lovers will be treated to a very special 16mm selection from Kenneth Anger’s Magick Lantern Cycle, as well as a documentary about legendary artist and social activist, Keith Haring. Plus we have the Northwest premiere of the French Jewish/Arab cross-dressing romance He is My Girl (2010).

We round things off with a big screen presentation of the classic, Some Like It Hot on 24 February, funds from which go towards this year’s Liverpool Pride. Book your tickets here.
