Apichatpong Weerasethakul wins Palm d'Or
Thai artist Apichatpong Weerasethakul, who exhibited at FACT last year, wins Palm d'Or
24 May 2010FACT is delighted to report that Thai artist Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s film Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives has been awarded the Palm d'Or at this year’s Cannes International Film Festival. The feature forms part of the Primitive project, which includes the installation of the same name which was co-commissioned by FACT and Haus de Kunst and showed here last September.
Apichatpong has also received the first prize in the inaugural Asia Art Award for Phantoms of Nabua. The installation version of Phantoms of Nabua is at BFI Southbank Gallery until 3 July.
