If you've recently returned from a tour of duty, or if you're the relative of a recently returned serviceman or woman living in the Northwest, FACT (Foundation for Art & Creative Technology) would like to talk to you about some exciting opportunities on the horizon. We would like to invite you to get involved in the production of a new artwork with artist Krzysztof Wodiczko. This project will be an opportunity to meet similar people, learn new skills and share experiences.
Krzysztof would like to talk to you informally about your personal experience of returning home after service. He'd like to record the talk in some way, but this could be in writing, or a voice recording, or a video - whichever way you'd prefer. Your words would then be typed into a film, which would then be projected from a Land Rover onto local buildings during a festival in Liverpool this September.
The project is about sharing with others what it is really like to serve your country and the challenges involved in doing so, promoting greater understanding in the general public. This isn't about politics or the rights and wrongs of war - it's about you and your personal experience. You can be as anonymous as you like and have as much or as little input as you want - this would be your project, and as such the direction it takes would be guided by you and the other participants.
After the project there will be an opportunity to get more involved in FACT's wider Community Programme. FACT currently offers a range of alternative education programmes and training opportunities to all ages, which are free and informal. So if you fancy yourself as a photographer or filmmaker, love films and enjoy spending time on the Internet, then get in touch.
