World Premiere of Hollyoaks star in cinema debut
3 September 2007
Actor Matt Littler, who plays Max in the teen soap Hollyoaks on Channel 4, has made the jump behind camera and his new film, Kidnap, was selected to be shown as part of FACT's regular film night, which showcases movie-making talent on Merseyside. This year, the films were selected by Liverpool actress Margi Clarke.
Littler's film tells the story of the Shepherd family who have to deal with the loss of their mother/wife where all is not as it seems. Starring various members of the Hollyoaks cast, the short is armed with a fast paced script and a clever narrative to keep you on tenterhooks. Kidnap was one of nine films selected for Liverpool Film Night.
The other films showing include Nadeem Baghdadi's British Asian Sound which explores the use of classical instruments performed by South Asian musicians in the UK and Ian Chapman's Cultural Conversations that explores the views of five creative people in Liverpool in response to the city's year as European Capital of Culture in 2008.
Liverpool Film Night is FACT's regular evening dedicated to movie-making talent on Merseyside. Held four times a year, the event receives submissions from a range of filmmakers, covering a range of genres including comedy, animation, documentary and drama. At each event, there's a special guest on hand to give the wannabe directors advice on how to get into the film industry.
