Fans see exclusive preview of new Tarantino movie
11 September 2007
And they got to watch the film with the director sitting with them, after he insisted on watching the new movie with the Liverpool audience. "I want to stick a thermometer up the bum of Liverpool," he said before taking his seat in Screen 1.
Best known for 1994's Pulp Fiction which won an Oscar for Best Screenplay, and nominations for Best Director and Best Picture, the iconic Tarantino has directed a catalogue of classic movies over the last decade, including Reservoir Dogs (1992), Jackie Brown (1997), and Kill Bill Vol 1 & 2 (2003/4). Death Proof will be on general release in the UK on 21 September 2007.
In Death Proof, Kurt Russell plays stuntman Mike, who uses his super-charged muscle car as a weapon of death, only to find the tables turned on him by a group of tough, sexy, smart women. With all the loving film references you can handle, a typically bravura script with super-cool dialogue, and car action to the extreme, Death Proof does not disappoint and is a worthy addition to Tarantino's classics.
As the credits rolled, fans cheered Tarantino to the stage, where he remained for the next hour and a half, answering questions about Death Proof, how he prepares to write a script, his plans to become a playwright and his advice for getting into the industry. He thanked all his fans in Liverpool for their warm welcome adding, "it's much appreciated."
