Log Files

Like most standard website servers we use log files. This includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyse trends, administer the site, track user's movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. Security

This website takes every precaution to protect our users' information. When users submit sensitive information via the website, their information is protected both online and off-line. Our registration does not ask users to enter sensitive information such as credit card number. All of our users' information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted in our offices. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, a customer service representative) are granted access to personally identifiable information. FACT wants to demonstrate its commitment to users' privacy and has disclosed its information practices as follows:

Data Protection Policy Statement.

FACT is committed to meeting its obligations under the Data Protection Act of 1998. FACT will strive to observe the law in all collection and processing of subject data and will meet any subject access request in compliance with the law. FACT will only use data in ways relevant to carrying out its legitimate purposes and functions as a charity in a way that is not prejudicial to the interests of individuals.

FACT will take due care in the collection and storage of any sensitive data. FACT staff will do their utmost to keep all data accurate, timely and secure.

All FACT staff, whether permanent or temporary, and voluntary workers, must be aware of the requirements of the Data Protection Act when they collect or handle data about an individual.

FACT staff must not disclose data except where there is subject consent, or legal requirement. Data sent to outside agencies must always be protected by a written contract. All collection and processing must be undertaken in good faith.

There will be a repository of all FACT statements of Data Protection Law compliance and information about any contacts made with the Data Protection Registrar. This information will be available to staff and data subjects on request.

FACT will inform subjects of any processing, disclosure or overseas transfer that does not fall within FACT’s purpose in a way that any individual supplying could be expected to understand. FACT will keep registration (now called notification) up to date.

Principles of data protection outlined in the Data Protection Act:

Anyone processing personal data must comply with the eight enforceable principles of good practice.

Processed for limited purposes;

Adequate, relevant and not excessive;

Accurate;

Not kept longer than necessary;

Processed in accordance with the data subjects rights;

Not transferred to countries without adequate protection;
